Anyone who knows me knows that I have had an interesting career trajectory and worked with some of the most heart-centered businesses in the country. One such business is Her Future Coalition.
I met Sarah Symons in 2010 when her non-profit was looking for a grant writer. I interviewed with she and her husband and although we all agreed that I was not the grant writer they needed, Sarah and I formed an immediate bond. Over the next 8 years, I’ve consulted with them on various occasions, been on the payroll for a few months, hosted events for them, and generally been an advocate of the amazing work they are doing. I’ve also had the pleasure of becoming close personal friends with Sarah, who is an amazing and wonderful person and a superstar advocate for the girls she works with in India.
One of my favorite things about Her Future Coalition is that their mission is to provide meaningful and profitable employment to survivors of human trafficking to help stop the cycle of violence that occurs in India. They own jewelry centers where the girls and ladies make the jewelry and it is shipped and sold worldwide. A few years ago, they even decided to make the girls who work in the centers part owners in the company! This is just one more way that Sarah leads with her heart AND her head and incorporates her values into everything she does with this company.
Her Future Coalition is an international social enterprise that is owned by the nonprofit, T.E.N. Charities. This unique business model means that in addition to being able to purchase stunning jewelry from them, you can also sponsor a child’s education through the nonprofit (and get the tax write-off!).
One of my favorite things about the jewelry at Her Future Coalition is that it is trendy as well as beautiful and well-crafted. Since day one, they have worked with seasoned jewelry designers and have made a point to create something that looks luxurious. Coming in at a reasonable price, this allows you to have and give jewelry that looks way more expensive than it was and helps provide employment to girls and women who are survivors of human trafficking.
I have the earrings pictured and absolutely love them. Well, I should say I had them - my sister accidentally took them back to Connecticut with her after a recent trip to Florida! Prior to that, every time I wore them (or any of the other jewelry I have from Her Future Coalition), I always got comments and compliments.
And that is another of my favorite things about shopping with companies that have a social mission built right in to their business model. Each time someone mentions how beautiful my jewelry is, I get to tell them the story of the company that made it!
I hope that you’ll visit the website and order some of these beautiful products for yourself or someone on your list. I did have a Christmas one year where someone filled my stocking with jewelry - I’m not gonna lie, it was my most favorite stocking ever! If you know someone who would enjoy a stocking full of jewelry (and I’m sure you do!), visit Her Future Coalition today and stock up! Or if you are looking for a striking piece of jewelry to wow at your Company Party, this is your place!!
