Perfume is a staple in holiday gift giving and one of the most luxurious feeling things many of us own. In my journey towards clean beauty, I was happy to stumble upon an ad for PHLUR fragrances: “Good scents, perfected by world-class perfumers who care. Crafted with clean ingredients that won’t harm your skin or the planet. All in the name of fun. Isn’t that what it’s all about?”

I’ve always had a signature scent. One of the first romantic gifts I ever received was a bottle of Liz Claiborne in the red triangle bottle. For almost ten years, I wore Chanel Mademoiselle and truly loved how I felt it captured the essence of who I was and desired to be: classic, sexy, and welcoming. A few years ago as I started transitioning my makeup and household products to less toxic versions, I held on to perfume like an iceberg near the sinking Titanic!

I tried wearing my favorite essential oils on my wrists or behind my ears and never felt like it captured the intrigue and sexiness of perfume. So one day when an ad for PHLUR popped up in my Facebook feed, I had to check it out. (Yes, as I have mentioned before, I am a FB algorithm success story on many levels!)

I spent hours reading their website and learning about how they use the best ingredients that are safe for you and the world - and feel good on your skin. They go into great detail to explain how the goal is to create a beautiful and luxurious product that is just like traditional perfume only better! From working with world class perfumers to responsibly sourced ingredients and using sustainable packaging, this was a company that was singing my tune.

In fact, PHLUR is a Certified B Corp (be still my heart!) - which, if you don’t know, it is like being a Certified Fair Trade Company except for values-based businesses. In order to qualify you have to meet the nonprofit B Lab’s rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. They don’t use animal products are and also Leaping Bunny certified. AND they donate $5 from every bottle purchased to environmental organizations. They also encourage their team to participate in various community activities and service days in Austin, Texas, where they are headquartered.

All this making the world better is great - better than great - but, what if I didn’t like the way it smelled? How many times had I gone into Sephora or Macy’s and put some hyped up perfume on my wrists only to be rushing to the bathroom minutes later to scrub it off!?!?

Have no fear - for only $18, they will send three 2ml bottles to you so that you can try the scents in your every day life and see what you think! You can even choose to spend $36 and get all six scents to try up front. And, if you do decide to go ahead and order a bottle, they apply $18 towards the cost.

And, one of my favorite parts - you can give a friend $5 off their first sample set and PHLUR gives you $10 for everyone who uses your code!

{I’ll give you a little pro tip too - I have been known to order those trial sizes so that I have a mini version of my favorite scent in my makeup bag for those long days when I want to refresh!}

You can probably guess since I’m writing this, that I did, in fact, love the perfume. I am absolutely and completely 100% addicted to Olmstead & Vaux. With notes of Shiso leaf, white ginger, orange flower and mate, this scent seems to capture who I am and who I am becoming perfectly. Bonus: almost every time I enter a room or hug someone they comment on how good I smell!

This year PHLUR also launched candles, body wash, and lotions so that you can permeate all the parts of your life with your scent! In the spirit of making your life easier, they also offer subscription services so that your favorite scent shows up exactly when you need it.

I hope you’ll visit PHLUR today and order a sample set for the person in your life who loves to smell good. PS: Use my link and save that $5!
